Job Summary
Review client tax situations with independence to deliver personalized advice and identify tax savings opportunities. Leverage advanced technology to prepare returns while ensuring accuracy and escalating complex notices or audit inquiries as appropriate. Translate tax complexity into clear explanations for clients, recommending relevant products and services based on their needs. Provide forward-looking guidance to help clients improve their financial picture beyond the current year. Build lasting relationships through teamwork and a client-first approach while maintaining strict adherence to IRS regulations and company standards. Complete the required H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment to begin this role.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs
