Job Summary
Meet with returning and new clients to gather information and prepare complete, accurate tax returns while identifying tax savings opportunities and recommending relevant H&R Block products. Apply your first year of experience to handle a broader range of client needs with greater independence, explaining tax information clearly and addressing unique situations using available resources. Build lasting client relationships through teamwork and a client-first approach, leveraging digital tools and AI-based systems to support your work. This seasonal role requires 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods and evenings or weekends as needed. You will receive ongoing training and support within a High Performing, Connected Culture focused on continuous learning and meaningful impact.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
