Job Summary
Meet with returning and new clients to gather information, understand their tax situations, and prepare complete, accurate returns. Apply your growing expertise to handle a broader range of client needs with greater independence, explaining tax information clearly and identifying savings opportunities. Recommend relevant H&R Block products and services while leveraging problem-solving skills to address unique situations. Work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods and evenings or weekends as needed. This seasonal role supports H&R Block's mission to provide help and inspire confidence in clients through a client-first approach and continuous learning.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
