Job Summary
Review client tax situations with greater independence after completing the H&R Block Income Tax Course and one year of experience. Prepare returns using advanced technology while ensuring accuracy and following IRS regulations. Translate complex tax information into clear recommendations, identifying savings opportunities and relevant products. Provide forward-looking financial guidance and escalate complex notices or audit inquiries as appropriate. Build lasting client relationships through collaboration and a client-first approach, working 15–35 hours weekly with availability for evenings and weekends during peak tax season.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs
