Job Summary
Meet with returning and new clients to gather information, understand their tax situations, and prepare complete, accurate returns. Apply your experience to handle a broader range of client needs with greater independence by explaining tax information clearly, answering questions, and recommending relevant H&R Block products and services. Use problem-solving skills to analyze client data and address unique situations while identifying tax savings opportunities. Complete the required H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment and maintain continuing education to meet IRS and state requirements. Work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods and evenings/weekends during tax season.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs
