Job Summary
Prepare complex individual tax returns for returning and new clients while gathering necessary information and explaining tax situations clearly. Identify tax savings opportunities, recommend relevant H&R Block products and services, and address unique client situations using problem-solving skills and available resources. Build lasting relationships through teamwork and a client-first approach, leveraging ongoing training and teammate support to handle broader client needs with greater independence. Work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak tax season periods and flexibility for evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
