Job Summary
Review client tax situations with growing independence, leveraging advanced technology to prepare returns while ensuring accuracy and delivering personalized advice. Translate complex tax information into clear recommendations, identify savings opportunities, and provide forward-looking financial guidance. Own return accuracy by following IRS regulations and escalate complex notices or audit inquiries as appropriate. Partner with Client Care Specialists to gather information, build lasting relationships, and support office goals through collaboration. Complete the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment and work 15–35 hours weekly, with availability for evenings and weekends during peak tax season.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
