Job Summary
Engineer, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in accordance with DoD STIGs, SRGs, and security baselines. Support AWS cloud solutions within hybrid and on-prem integrated environments while developing Bash and Python automation for system provisioning and operational sustainment. Create Ansible playbooks for configuration management, hardening, and repeatable deployments; build, test, and maintain installation packages and deployment pipelines. Perform Independent Verification & Validation of system builds and remediate defects in configurations and deployment artifacts. Collaborate with ISSO and security teams to implement secure configurations and maintain system security posture across the environment. Requires 12 years of engineering experience, active TS/SCI clearance, and a Bachelor's degree. Located in Annapolis Junction, MD.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelors degree in a Technical Field
- 4 years of additional experience may substitute the degree
- DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level 2 Certification
- 12 years of experience in Engineering on programs or projects of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Ability to travel as required
- Standard office environment with occasional requirements to visit client sites, labs, or field environments
- Intermediate RHEL administration (system services, networking, package management, SELinux, log analysis, performance tuning)
- Intermediate AWS experience, including services such as EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC
- Strong scripting expertise in Bash and Python for automation, system integration, and operational tooling
- Hands-on experience with Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories, Tower/AWX preferred)
- Experience applying and remediating DISA STIGs across Linux environments
- Familiarity with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and their role in key management, encryption, and secure system architectures
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC)
- Experience troubleshooting complex, distributed systems in secure environments
- Strong understanding of system hardening and secure configuration practices
- Ability to translate security requirements into technical implementations
- Excellent communication skills supporting cross-functional engineering teams
- Proven ability to work independently in high-security, mission-focused environments
