Job Summary
Senior Systems Engineer - Thermal to help define and manage thermal subsystem requirements, develop interfaces (ICDs) across spacecraft subsystems, and lead verification/validation planning and testing for a lunar surface mobility platform. Responsibilities include supervising requirements management, standards compliance, verification/validation planning, developing and executing thermal test campaigns, coordinating with design teams to ensure design closure, generating technical documentation, and supporting procurement and vendor coordination. Includes participation in design reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR), risk identification and resolution in a fast-paced startup environment, and ensuring adherence to space hardware standards. Requires autonomous operation, strong organization/time management, and experience with thermal hardware (MLI, heaters, radiators, coatings, heat pipes, fluid loops) and space thermal environments, with U.S. citizenship.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of relevant spacecraft or aerospace thermal systems experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
- Demonstrated experience with requirements development, flowdown, traceability and verification (Jama or similar tools preferred)
- Experience defining and managing interfaces (ICDs) across multidisciplinary systems
- Direct experience supporting or executing thermal test campaigns
- Working knowledge of passive and active thermal control hardware: MLI, heaters, radiators, coatings, heat pipes, fluid loops
- Strong understanding of space thermal environments and heat transfer in space environments (radiation-dominated systems)
