Job Summary
Senior Systems Engineer at Kraken Robotics in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, responsible for guiding interdisciplinary life-cycle activities from requirements to solution delivery. Role emphasizes modeling customer needs into system design, documenting intersystem dependencies, requirements derivation, verification/validation planning, interface control, managing change, and acting as technical authority within a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include developing system concepts and architectures, decomposing requirements, supporting project planning and budgets, coordinating with stakeholders, mentoring engineers, and driving test plans and verification efforts across complex robotic systems and platforms. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), 8+ years of systems engineering experience, and demonstrated capability across hardware/software development, requirements management, and lifecycle processes. The role envisions growth toward Tech-Lead/Engineering Manager responsibilities and may involve security clearance prerequisites for Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- ASEP/CSEP/ESEP certification from INCOSE or equivalent asset
- Approximately 8 years of systems engineering experience with complex electronic systems or equivalent education/experience
- Extensive experience in hardware and software development teams
- Ability to own a complex system including design, integration, test, and delivery
- Technical ownership for a complex subsystem with stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, team coordination
- Experience with requirements management and development, verification and validation
- Experience transforming data using Excel/Python tools
- Experience in defense/maritime/aerospace domains (preferred)
- Experience in product delivery lifecycle including manufacturing, system acceptance, deployment, and sustainment
- Experience with robotic and autonomous systems, sonar, unmanned vehicles, and remotely operated vehicles
- Desire to grow into Tech-Lead/Manager roles
