Job Summary
Hands-on Systems Engineer to drive EDU-to-EMD transition, lead qualification and testing campaigns, prepare for major milestones (CDR/MRR), and scale production from a few units per year to tens of systems per month. Responsibilities include coordinating with manufacturing and hardware teams to implement design-for-manufacturing, developing robust test infrastructure and automation, authoring technical documentation, defining verification matrices, and maturing hardware and software systems toward production readiness. Required expertise includes EO/Ladar systems, DVT and environmental testing, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and familiarity with MATLAB/Python toolchains. Willingness to travel and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance are required.
Required Qualifications
- EO/Ladar Domain Expertise: 5+ years hardware-centric systems engineering experience with Electro-Optical (EO) systems, Ladar/Lidar, or high-precision pointing systems
- Development-to-Production Experience: transitioning complex, multidisciplinary systems from low TRL to high TRL / production-ready status
- Testing & Environmental Qualification: familiarity with DVT campaigns, environmental testing standards, and field testing operations
- Production Scaling Mindset: knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), test equipment ruggedization, and test process optimization/automation
- Milestone Execution: experience leading or contributing to CDR, MRR, or PRR
- Collaboration & Communication: ability to communicate across multidisciplinary teams (optical, mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, and manufacturing)
- Advanced proficiency in analytical toolchains/languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python)
- Strong laboratory skills (e.g., design of experiments)
- Willingness to travel to test sites
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance
