Job Summary
Senior System Safety Engineer responsible for developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E–compliant system safety programs, performing hazard analyses and design analyses, coordinating with customer safety representatives, and ensuring safety considerations are integrated across hardware, software, and test personnel. Role involves interfacing with Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware, Electrical and Hardware Engineering, Program Management, and government authorities; preparing internal and customer reports; briefing safety considerations at technical reviews; and supporting safety approvals throughout the lifecycle from program startup to production and disposal.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM preferred)
- minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
- Active U.S. government issued Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. person status or immigration status allowing eligibility for security clearance
- Experience with MIL-STD-882E System Safety Programs or MIL-STD-882, DO-178 (preferred)
- Experience with hazard analyses, system safety planning, and safety reporting
- Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines and customer safety representatives
- Strong written and verbal communication for technical reviews and reports
