Senior Surveyor - Land and Development

Job Summary

Senior Surveyor in Bidwells' Land and Development team based primarily in Oxford with some work in Milton Keynes and agile/hybrid working options. Focus on valuations of development land (with or without planning permission) for acquisition/disposal, preparation of Financial Viability Assessments for planning applications, affordable housing in lieu calculations, development feasibility, and assisting on strategic land setup and agency instructions. You’ll maintain client relationships, support business development, contribute to publications and marketing, mentor graduates, and help drive efficiencies. Essential: MRICS or progression toward MRICS; experience in development appraisals/valuations; strong knowledge of development economics; analytical and report-writing skills; ability to manage workloads and collaborate cross-functionally. Desirable: negotiation/business development, UK planning legislation, financial modelling for mixed-use projects, and experience with rental-form residential schemes; RICS Valuer accreditation is a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Ideally MRICS qualified or working towards it
  • Experience of undertaking development appraisals and valuations of multimillion pound projects
  • Experience working in a development consultancy role and/or working for developers and/or landowners would be preferable
  • Good working knowledge of development economics
  • Good analytical skills – ability to analyse a broad range of markets and uses, including both commercial and residential property
  • Report writing skills
  • Team player attitude
  • Good interpersonal skills – to manage and communicate with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise projects on a day-to-day basis
