Job Summary
Senior Survey Technician responsible for on-site survey support on oil and gas projects, performing land and topographic surveys, boundary work, and photogrammetric tasks; generates documentation, coordinates with engineers and field crew, ensures design compliance and safety, utilizes Trimble GNSS gear, and may travel up to 90% while maintaining accurate field notes and communications.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-education surveying experience (easements, rights of way, plats, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, property descriptions, GPS surveys)
- Valid state driver’s license
- Experience with both public and private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development)
- Highly familiar with land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques
- Good interpersonal, documentation, and computer skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Fundamental understanding of pipeline design surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys
- Strong experience with Trimble Survey Gear (R10-R12i GNSS Receivers)
- Experience with line locating with electronic line locator
- Ability to record information in a legible and accurate manner (Field Notes)
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
- Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from calculations, data collation, and survey results
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by company health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Travel is required up to 90%
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
- This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy
