Senior Surety Claims Specialist Manager

Job Summary
Independently investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex Surety and Fidelity claims by directing retention of outside accountants, engineers, and attorneys. Manage support staff, including hiring, training, and mentoring Claim Specialists, while ensuring compliance with legal and corporate procedures. Direct financial aspects of claims by adjusting reserves, issuing payments, and leading salvage recovery efforts. Collaborate with regional peers and senior management to drive efficient resolution and participate in special projects, including developing best practices for AI use with the Commercial surety team. Maintain state adjuster licenses and attend industry conferences. Requires 10+ years of surety experience, full working knowledge of bond operations and construction contracts, and the ability to travel 25%, including overnight stays. Candidates within 50 miles of a GRS office must be prepared to work two days in-office.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Business Administration or related field
- 10+ years of surety claims experience
- Full working knowledge of surety claims operations and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Expert knowledge of Surety bonds, law/legal issues, construction contracts, and/or fidelity policies
- Expert analytical ability to evaluate claims/exposures and drive decisions
- Must be able to travel as required, including overnight hotel stays
- Must be prepared to come into the office two days/week
Desired Qualifications
- Experience handling, organizing and resolving complex commercial surety claims
- Advanced knowledge of surety claims practices (investigation, evaluation, contract language, loss assessment, etc.)
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage internal staff and/or outside vendors
- Relationship skills
- Ability to make decisions and communicate them with confidence to senior management, internal and external customers, partners, and stakeholders
- Experience with AI use with the Commercial surety team
