Job Summary
Senior Supplier Quality Engineer II based in Rocket Lab's Long Beach, CA, serving as the technical point of contact for assigned parts and assemblies, translating quality and manufacturing requirements to the supply base, driving supplier improvements, leading DFM reviews, OEM-supplier qualification, NCR and nonconformance disposition, containment activities, and cross-functional liaison to ensure quality across procured parts and processes. The role covers end-to-end ownership of production components, supplier identification and qualification, root-cause analysis (8D/A3/RCA), and programs to improve rate, quality, and efficiency. Candidates should have 8+ years in regulated industries with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, proficiency with GD&T and drawing interpretation, and willingness to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally. Knowledge of IPC standards, PPAP/APQP, AS9100/NADCAP familiarity, electronics/QMS concepts (IEC/IPC), and ERP/Jira/Confluence/Power BI experience are highly desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a regulated industry (Aerospace, Medical, Automotive, or similar)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent
- Prior experience in a supplier quality role
- Proficiency with GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation
