Job Summary
Own and manage propulsion engines and mechanical casting commodities to execute supplier production strategies from new product introduction through full production. Vet suppliers' production capabilities, facilities, and workforce for inclusion on the Approved Supplier List, then support Supplier Quality Engineers in ensuring adherence to part quality criteria. Drive the bringing up of new production tooling and lines at supplier sites to ensure materials, processes, and tools meet performance, quality, and demand requirements. Manage capacity expansion readiness and production ramp-up while establishing process performance controls and SPC reviews. Identify and drive product and process improvements, including factory layout optimization, to lower costs, reduce supply risk, eliminate defects, and improve cycle time over the product lifecycle. Support root cause task forces with suppliers to close the loop on corrective and preventative actions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field
- 6+ years of experience in supplier quality and industrialization within a manufacturing environment
- Experience with specific category technical expertise, as applicable, propulsion engines, mechanical casting manufacturing or energetics CAD, GD&T
- Ability to travel at least 50% of the time
- Ability to relocate, if not already local to be onsite in Costa Mesa, CA
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering, or related technical field
- Previous experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, high tech, or another related industry
- Strong understanding of quality systems, standards, and certifications
- Familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment
- Exposure to working in a fast-pace, start-up environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance
