Job Summary
Conduct QA/QC of substation deliverables including single line diagrams, relay and metering one diagrams, protection schemes, and RTU/annunciator drawings. Perform advanced engineering studies for voltage drop, conduit fill, and load sizing while developing bills of materials and cable schedules. Correlate physical design with protection and control design using AutoCAD Electrical or MicroStation. Interact with internal teams and clients to meet project objectives. Requires 4+ years of US utility experience and direct exposure to National Grid NE, NY, or PPL/RIE.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of prior relevant experience with US utility
- Bachelor of Science Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial)
- Direct US Substation protection and control design experience with National grid NE, NY and or PPL/RIE
Desired Qualifications
- Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Basic understanding of Substation physical drawings such as control house layout, cable tray layout drawings, conduit plans, sections views to be able to be able to corelate physical design with the P&C design part
- Advanced knowledge of protection principles such as transformer diff, bus diff, Line relay protection using communication assisted scheme, basic understanding of sequence currents, Breaker failure, 3V0 schemes and CAP bank protection
- Basic knowledge of networking such as Modbus, DNP3 and how RTU talks to switches, and or SCADA
- Basic knowledge of substation communication - physical layer such as CAT5, CAT6, serial cables, Fiber cables, coax cables
- Basic understanding of Substation telecom
- Bachelor's/master's degree in related field
- Advanced knowledge of Substation – Protection and Control design
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical /MicroStation software
- Experience with Bluebeam
