Job Summary
Senior Substation Engineer responsible for preparing and authenticating outdoor substation design packages (25 kV to 240 kV) including ampacity diagrams, layouts, plot plans, bus elevations, grounding designs, control and power cable layouts, and control-building electrical design. Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure conformance, performs analyses (grounding, lightning, lighting, AC/DC load studies, transformer and battery sizing, insulation coordination, rigid bus), conducts medium-voltage cable ampacity calculations, develops equipment specifications, reviews vendor documentation for constructability and compliance, maintains bills of materials for outdoor installations, provides construction and commissioning support, mentors junior engineers, and helps develop internal standards. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, eligibility for P.Eng in a Canadian province, and 6-10 years of relevant experience with knowledge of Canadian codes and standards (CEC, CSA, AEUC, OESC). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in a Canadian province
- 6-10 years of experience in electrical substation design
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Solid foundation in electrical theory and mathematics
- Working knowledge of Canadian codes and standards (e.g., CEC, CSA, AEUC, OESC) is an asset
