Job Summary
Conduct substation physical design including yard layout plans, sections, details, grounding, lightning protection, and control building arrangements. Perform protection and control design covering panel arrangements, one/three lines, AC/DC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring. Oversee quality review of design facets, prepare equipment specifications, and provide construction support. Perform field inspections, compliance documentation, and lead single- or multi-discipline teams to ensure project success. Present designs and proposals to clients, permitting authorities, and public interest groups while corresponding with contractors and vendors. Participate in project proposal efforts and advance into leadership roles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 8 years of substation electrical engineering experience
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a dynamic, quantitative problem-solving environment
- demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code
- Proficiency with IEEE / ANSI Standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Mathcad, WinIGS, Microsoft Office Suite)
- Travel: Yes, 15% of the time
Desired Qualifications
- Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
