Job Summary
Senior Substation Engineer responsible for configuring and producing engineering drawings for installation and commissioning of electro-mechanical and microprocessor type protection relay systems in high-voltage substations. Design and produce one-line, three-line, schematics, panel elevations and wiring diagrams; may include installing RTUs, DDFRs, PMUs, ethernet switches, and HMI systems. Work with design teams through conceptual, preliminary, and final design of station projects from 4.16 kV through 500 kV; occasional travel. Requires a BSEE and 6+ years of relevant experience; PE license preferred but not required. Preference given to those with SCE standards experience. Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills; ability to manage a team and train less experienced staff. May be subject to client-mandated drug and background checks; applicants must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Required Qualifications
- BSEE
- 6+ years of experience specifying, configuring and producing engineering drawings for electro-mechanical and microprocessor type protection relay systems in high voltage substations
- extensive background in power system protection and control
- PE license preferred but not required
- experience with Southern California Edison (SCE) standards a plus
- excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and writing skills
- ability to manage a team and diligence in training less experienced staff
- subject to client mandated drug and background checks
- not requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future
