Senior Structured Cabling Technician

Job Summary
Senior Structured Cabling Technician leads buildout of MDF and IDF rooms, installs support structures and cable pathways, pulls and terminates Cat6/Cat6A cabling, terminates and tests single-mode and multimode fiber, reads blueprints and construction drawings, coordinates with general contractors and other trades on active job sites, maintains as-built documentation and labeling schemes, and mentors junior technicians while enforcing quality and safety standards. The role requires 5+ years of structured cabling experience in large commercial facilities, expert Cat6/Cat6A installation skills, strong fiber optics capabilities (fusion splicing, splicing and testing; OTDR), and knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568 and NEC requirements; OSHA or manufacturer certifications are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of structured cabling experience in large commercial facilities
- Deep knowledge of MDF/IDF design and buildout best practices
- Expert-level Cat6/Cat6A installation and termination skills
- Strong fiber optic skills: fusion splicing, connectorization, and OTDR testing
- Working knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568 and NEC requirements
- Ability to read construction blueprints and telecom drawings
- Comfortable working on active construction sites (lifts, ladders, PPE)
- Reliable transportation and ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Preferred Qualifications: BICSI Installer 2 or Technician certification, OSHA 10/30, Manufacturer certifications
