Job Summary
Oversee the structural team's engineering and drafting tasks, ensuring seamless project coordination internally and with architecture, MEP, and other disciplines. Provide structural design expertise, coordinate construction documentation, and manage projects during the construction administration phase by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, overseeing site visits, and addressing change orders. Author structural specifications, perform calculations, select materials, and ensure compliance with applicable codes. Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings, design reviews, and owner-client sessions to discuss scope and methodology. Prepare defensible engineering reports, memos, and site observation reports based on construction observations. Requires a PE license, 10+ years of structural engineering experience, and proficiency in ETABS, SAFE, RISA, and RAM.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive structural engineering experience
- Comprehensive understanding of state building codes and applicable design standards such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, NDS, etc.
- Proficiency in designing various structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, etc.
- Proficiency in structural engineering tools such as ETABS, SAFE, RISA, RAM, ENERCALC as well as office tools like Excel and Bluebeam
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
