Job Summary
Conduct on-site field work for buildings and structures while planning, designing, and performing construction administration for vertical and horizontal projects. Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and provide peer review services for designs and reports. Present technical concepts to clients and public audiences to support permits and approvals. Manage project phases, oversee contractors and sub-consultants, and mentor junior staff on the structural team. Assist in business development pursuits through proposal writing. Some travel required for client meetings and project sites. Hybrid work arrangement available.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in structural engineering
- BS in Civil Engineering is required with a structural concentration
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Connecticut, or ability to become licensed within 6 months
- Willingness to work in a team environment to collaborate and problem solve daily challenges
- Some travel will be required to client meetings and project sites, and potentially to other Weston & Sampson office locations
Desired Qualifications
- MS in Civil Engineering is a plus
- Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT are highly desirable
- Knowledge of ETABS, RISA, STAAD, Visual Analysis, or other structural design and analysis software is a plus
- Understanding of the Connecticut Building Codes (Building and Existing Building) is desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
