Job Summary
Senior Structural Engineer in Aguadilla, PR, in a hybrid role (3 days onsite, 2 days remote). You will review engineering drawings for structural integrity and FAA/regulatory compliance, mentor team members, lead investigations into complex technical tasks, coordinate with IPTs, and contribute to robust designs meeting environmental requirements (shock, vibration, crash loading). The role emphasizes clear communication of technical topics to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders, with responsibilities spanning peer reviews, root-cause analysis, and leading the stress team on project work. The position is with Collins Aerospace, RTX, and requires U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government clearance; relocation not offered. What you will learn includes the engineering team in Puerto Rico, the technologies of today and tomorrow, and how we support U.S. warfighter programs. Qualifications include STEM degree with 5+ years experience or advanced degree with 3+ years, English proficiency, and security clearance eligibility; preferred experience with FEA, fatigue, composites, and aerospace standards.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required to access program/contract information
- Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience (or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
- Experience with finite element analysis software (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical)
- Experience with modal analysis, internal stress loading, fatigue, and safety margins
- Experience in structural design solutions and aerospace industry practices
- Knowledge of standards such as 14 CFR Part 25, MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160
- Experience with 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, CATIA, NX)
- Knowledge of applications with fiberglass, phenolic, and carbon fiber materials
- Experience in developing automation tools using Excel API, Python, Visual Basic
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Active DoD security clearance (preferred)
- Communications in English across organizational levels
