Senior Structural Engineer

Job Summary

Conduct forensic analysis of building structures, lead multi-disciplined investigations, and execute field visits to existing buildings, construction sites, and post-disaster environments. Articulate technical issues in written and verbal forms for non-technical audiences and testify at depositions and trials. Design structures and remedial repairs for existing buildings while managing multiple projects, monitoring scopes of service, and maintaining budgets. Prepare drawings, review submittals, and generate compelling reports using Bluebeam and Microsoft Suite software. Requires a PE license, 10+ years of experience, and ability to travel via airplanes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • NCEES record
  • Experience working within the continental United States
  • Experience testifying in court
  • Proficient technical writing ability
  • Ability to perform field visits to existing buildings, construction sites and post-disaster environments
  • Proven experience in building envelopes for both existing and new buildings
  • Experience with BlueBeam and Microsoft office software
  • Engineering, leadership skills, and client management expertise
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, monitor scopes of service, and maintain corresponding budgets
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Licensed P.E. in Massachusetts and/or Florida, with the ability to easily obtain additional states
  • Possession of NCEES Record
  • Expertise in structural analysis and design
  • Experience as the engineer of record professional for buildings
  • Familiarity with soil-structure interaction and structural dynamics
  • Proficiency in using structural analysis and design software
  • The ability to sit at a desk up to 80% of the time
  • The ability to stand and walk up to 20% of the time
  • The ability to be confined in a small area, such as a cubicle
  • The ability to work from heights during inspections (from ladders/lifts)
  • The ability to operate phones and computers
  • The ability to travel via airplanes as needed
