Job Summary
Senior Structural Designer role in Houston, TX within Hatch's Project Delivery Group. Responsibilities include participating in civil-structures design across bridges, retaining walls, dams, culverts, and pump stations; developing 3D models in Bentley software (Aecosim, OpenBuilding, MicroStation) and extracting 2D drawings for fabrication; producing detailed engineering drawings; leading project design work and coordinating junior designers; preparing design concepts and proposals; participating in formal engineering processes and site investigations; collaborating in multi-discipline teams and communicating project technical information to managers, clients and peers. Requires 8+ years of 3D structural modeling experience with Bentley products, ability to work independently, mentoral capability, strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. The role emphasizes global collaboration, safety, and delivering safe, innovative, and sustainable solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in 3D structural modeling with Bentley products (Aecosim, Open Building, Microstation)
- Experience in the design of heavy industrial sector is preferred
- Must function independently with minimal supervision in a multi-discipline team setting
- Must mentor / assist on the job training of designers
- Must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey project technical information to project managers, clients and peers
- Must demonstrate organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and provide direction to others ensuring the quality of deliverables
- Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent safety awareness
- Willingness to be a part of a global engineering company and to collaborate with teams in other offices around the world
