Senior Stress Engineer (Onsite)

Job Summary

Conduct structural analysis of aircraft components, assemblies, and systems using finite element models, loads, and classical hand analysis. Perform static, fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture, and vibration analysis to evaluate structural integrity and generate documentation for airworthiness certification. Solve challenging structural problems through research and coordination with subject matter experts while collaborating with domestic and international engineering teams. Participate in design trades, final product configuration definitions, and continuous improvement activities. Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit. Support equipment engineering systems by evaluating needs and developing effective resolution approaches.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Person (lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, U.S. national, refugee, or asylee status)
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Advanced Degree in a related field (alternative to 2 years experience)
  • Experience in a Stress Engineer role
  • Onsite work location (US-CA-CHULA VISTA-B107)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience communicating and presenting technical information to senior level leadership

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in performing Structural Analysis of Complex Mechanical Systems and Aircraft components using classical hand calculations methods and Finite Element Analysis tools
  • Good understanding of Structural Load Paths, and Free Body Diagrams (FBD's)
  • Experienced in performing Static, Fatigue & Damage Tolerance and Frequency Response Analysis
  • General knowledge of applicable 14 CFR Part 25 or equivalent regulatory requirements
  • General knowledge of Testing and Qualification requirements
  • Background in Metallic and composite material structure and design
  • Experience working with international teams across multiple time zones
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
  • Proficient with FEA tools ANSYS, NASTRAN/PATRAN or equivalent software(s)
  • Proficient with math, data, and automation tools, MathCAD, MS Excel, MS Access, Python
  • Experience with kinematics simulation software such as ADAM's
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
