Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Job Summary
Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist at TransAlta, based in downtown Calgary with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days at home). Lead sourcing strategies, RFx development, negotiations, and contracting initiatives across Site Services and potentially broader categories. Build supplier relationships, ensure compliance with internal policies, and provide commercial guidance to project and operations teams. Requires 12+ years in supply chain with strategic sourcing/contract management, experience with utilities/manufacturing environments, and familiarity with Ariba/SAP. This is a permanent role.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain with a focus on strategic sourcing and contract management
- Experience supporting internal stakeholders within utilities, services, or manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance management practices
- Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing complex contracts and commercial models, with the ability to identify and address key legal and commercial issues
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrated capability to assess and manage risk while balancing business requirements
- Strong ability to influence, negotiate and gain alignment with a variety of stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Proven ability to initiate, lead and adapt to change in a complex environment
- Experience with Ariba and SAP is considered an asset
