Job Summary
Senior Stormwater Project Manager for DRG in Novi, MI / Metro Detroit area. Balances business development and client management (60%) with project management and technical leadership (40%) to support stormwater compliance, inspections, and BMP implementation. Responsible for leading project proposals, budgets, and bids (Go/No-Go evaluations), securing new business, maintaining client relationships, and driving local marketing efforts (digital campaigns, events, conferences, sponsorships). Provides leadership in NPDES stormwater and SWPPP inspections, reviews construction plans for erosion and sediment control, coordinates with contractors and regulatory agencies, prepares compliance reports and correspondence, and supports field operations. Requires strong communication, ability to manage multiple projects, and travel up to 25%.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field
- 3+ years of experience conducting NPDES stormwater and/or SWPPP inspections
- Minimum of 8 years working experience in the natural resources field performing ecological consulting work and habitat restoration consulting is desired
- NPDES permitting requirements
- Erosion and sediment control BMPs
- Stormwater compliance documentation
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and client service excellence
Desired Qualifications
- Existing client portfolio or success developing new business
- CPESC, CESSWI, OSHA 30, SWPPP Inspector
- Knowledge of MS4 programs and municipal stormwater systems
- Construction experience, including active job site coordination
- Experience supporting compliance for infrastructure or utility projects
- Familiarity with SPCC plans, waste management, and environmental best practices
- Experience operating equipment (e.g., skid steer, excavator) or supporting field operations
