Senior Statutory Accountant - Property & Casualty Insurance

Job Summary
Re-engineer existing statutory processes to streamline flows and eliminate manual calculations. Prepare internal and annual NAIC Schedule P, quarterly reconciliations, and state premium tax returns while collaborating with actuarial teams on loss development. Participate in quarterly statutory financial statement generation, perform detailed analysis on result fluctuations, and complete assigned schedules for management and regulators. Work independently to manage projects and ensure filings meet internal and external expectations. This role supports the integrity of financial results at Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies, a nationwide P&C insurer with opportunities for process automation and growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years accounting experience
- Experience in the P&C Insurance Industry
- Strong knowledge of coverages
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office Excel and accounting software
- Experience with process re-engineering
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
- Ability to work independently and manage short and long-term projects
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship needs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
- Technical skills in SQL and VBA
- Knowledge of the Oracle Fusion General Ledger
