Job Summary
Design and build authentication and authorization systems powering the company's product ecosystem, focusing on single sign-on, token management, and role-based access control. Own critical identity infrastructure for login, sessions, and service-to-service authentication while establishing engineering standards and best practices. Build scalable distributed systems supporting high-volume workloads, improve reliability through observability dashboards and operational runbooks, and investigate complex production issues. Collaborate with product, platform, and security teams to implement secure access patterns and enforce authorization controls across the platform.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend, platform, infrastructure, or security engineering
- Hands-on experience building authentication, authorization, identity, or permissions systems
- Experience building single sign-on, access management, or authorization services at scale
- Experience designing and operating production identity infrastructure
- Experience working with distributed systems
- Experience building backend services and APIs
- Experience working in reputable, talent-dense technology organizations
- Demonstrated career progression through increasing scope, responsibility, or promotions
- Experience owning critical infrastructure end-to-end
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Experience working closely with platform, infrastructure, and security teams
- Strong ownership mentality with demonstrated execution ability
- Comfortable operating independently on complex technical systems
- Strong interest in identity, authentication, authorization, and security infrastructure
- Strong TypeScript or JavaScript engineering experience
- Strong backend engineering experience
- Hands-on authentication and authorization experience

- Experience with roles, permissions, and authorization models
- Experience with session management and token systems
- Experience with service-to-service authentication
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals

- Experience with Node.js or comparable backend runtimes
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or comparable databases
- Experience working with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure
- Experience with production monitoring and observability tools
- Experience designing reliable and secure production systems
- Strong understanding of security principles and access controls
- Strong debugging and production troubleshooting capabilities
- Strong system design and software architecture skills
- Strong computer science, distributed systems, security, and software engineering fundamentals
- Equivalent practical engineering experience accepted
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field preferred
