Job Summary
Senior Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack at Button. Define full stack architectures for large-scale systems, stay hands-on with production code, and drive zero-to-one projects end-to-end. Work across multiple teams to align architectural directions, build proofs of concept, and shipping robust solutions. Collaborate with Engineering and Product leadership to connect roadmaps to company strategy, apply machine learning where it adds value, and raise the bar on engineering best practices and operational health. Proficient with React, TypeScript, Go, NodeJS, Python, Docker, and AWS; focused on scalable architectures, reliability (SLOs, incident response), and mentorship of senior engineers. Remote-friendly with a US focus, and a compensation range of $205K–$265K or equivalent, plus comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years building production systems at scale
- deep full stack expertise across UIs, APIs, backend services, and data infrastructure
- 5+ years leading system design and architecture across teams
- strong fluency in JavaScript and TypeScript (React, NodeJS) and Go; Python experience for ML/data work
- strong command of web development fundamentals and API design instincts
- experience deploying and monitoring ML systems in Python (ML deployment, evaluation, monitoring)
- ability to operate in high ambiguity and drive cross-team execution
- experience owning reliability across teams including SLOs and incident response culture
- deep experience with relational databases, distributed systems, and AWS
- history of developing senior engineers into leaders
- ability to engage effectively with executives
