Senior Staff / Manager - Ground Systems Design Execution

Senior Staff Engineer / Engineering Manager to lead Zipline’s Design Execution team, turning site concepts into permit-ready and construction-ready design packages for Zipline sites. Lead a group of design managers who own site designs from concept through issue-for-permit and issue-for-construction deliverables. Bring design-delivery leadership for physical infrastructure (site layouts, civil, structural, electrical interfaces, permit drawings, consultant coordination, jurisdictional comments, utility engagement). 10 years of relevant experience and 3–5 years of directly managing small teams. Professional grounding in architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, or related design discipline; licensure helpful but not required if operating experience is strong. Responsibilities include delivering site-specific charging-site designs, growing and developing the design-management team, building a predictable design-delivery process with gates and readiness criteria, ensuring buildable, permit-ready, and Zipline-standard drawings, coordinating with cross-functional partners (Construction, Real Estate, Legal, Finance, Operations, Launch, Service Operations), and implementing constructability reviews and lessons-learned loops. The role emphasizes ownership of design quality across multiple sites, templates and templates, and defining role boundaries to accelerate execution. The starting cash range is $160,000 - $225,000 with potential equity, bonuses, and benefits; location-based considerations apply.
