Senior/Staff Homologation Engineer

Job Summary
Identify regulations applicable to autonomous vehicles including FMVSS, EU, and UNECE statutes. Manage requirements in a formal tool and lead compliance assessments to support engineering design and validation. Collaborate with legal teams to document interpretations, work with test engineers and external labs to confirm procedures, and execute compliance tests. Draft information documents and reports while monitoring regulatory changes for Zoox advocacy. Occasional travel is required for on-site certification tests. This role requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of vehicle homologation experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study
- 8+ years of experience in vehicle homologation
- Strong understanding of US and European regulations, particularly related to passive safety
- Creativity to apply existing conventional regulations to novel vehicle designs
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop effective solutions efficiently
- Strong understanding of vehicle system design and function
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
