Senior Staff Firmware Engineer for memory-constrained embedded systems responsible for defining firmware feature requirements, implementing and optimizing DCI firmware features, and collaborating across teams (Application/Project Management, DVT, Hardware, Architecture) to deliver robust driver and API development, testing, and debugging for high-speed coherent fiber transceivers used in data center interconnects. The role emphasizes C and Python programming, RTOS usage, embedded SoC understanding (RISC-V a plus), hardware interface familiarity (I2C, I3C, SPI), and strong problem-solving in lab environments; preferred experience includes Optical Transceivers, Coherent DSP, and Linux device driver development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical fields
- 7+ years of memory constrained embedded system development
- 5+ years of firmware development on device driver and peripherals like I2C, I3C, SPI
- Strong programming skills using C and Python
- Strong understanding and experience on RTOS
- Understanding of embedded SoC, micro-controller architecture (RISC-V a plus)
- Memory-mapped hardware interfaces, GPIOs, ISRs
- Familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeter, power supplies, logic analyzer, debuggers like JTAG)
- Strong problem-solving and customer debug skills on real hardware in the lab
- Highly effective communication and presentation
