Job Summary
Senior Staff Engineer (SRE/DevOps) to design, build, and operate a highly scalable unified network model powering Equinix Brain. Drive design, development, testing, and operation of reliable services modeling network entities and relationships across a global infrastructure. Provide technical guidance to stakeholders, identify network data use cases to improve reliability, observability, capacity planning, and customer-facing capabilities. Develop solutions leveraging the unified network model to enhance product capabilities, assist operations in troubleshooting escalations, and inform maintenance planning. Lead cross-functional discussions to align software requirements and trade-offs, champion best practices for development and operations, and contribute directly to implementation and on-call duties. Required background includes 7+ years building distributed, scalable services in Golang, experience with SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, 24x7 on-call rotations, data stores such as GCP Spanner, MongoDB, Redis, Neo4J, containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, networking protocols (gRPC, Netconf, ISIS, BGP, BMP, LLDP), CI/CD with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD, public cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), observability tools (Grafana/Prometheus/Thanos), agile practices, and a Bachelor's degree in CS or a related field (Master's/PhD preferred). The role supports remote work in North America and requires collaboration across global teams; travel and office presence at the Dallas, TX site may be involved.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience developing distributed, scalable, highly available software services using Golang
- Experience with SaaS, PaaS, IaaS or cloud-based companies with microservices design experience
- Experience with 24x7 on-call rotations
- Proficient with data management systems: GCP Spanner, MongoDB, Redis, Neo4J
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar containerization/orchestration
- Experience with network management protocols: gRPC, Netconf
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (ISIS, BGP, BMP, LLDP)
- Experience building and operating highly reliable distributed systems
- Proficient in CI/CD: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD
- Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure
- Observability tools: Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos
- Agile software development practices (JIRA, code reviews, Git, CI/CD)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field
- Preferred Master's or PhD in CS or related field
- Golang coding proficiency
- Experience building a network model or digital twin
- Experience using AI for real-time network decisions
