Job Summary
Senior Staff Engineer to join the platform team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a high-performance networking and compute platform within Equinix, enabling cloud-like access to services. You will architect and build the platform, mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product management to ensure product-market fit, drive CI/CD practices, and ensure performance, scalability, and reliability. Key focus areas include NFV, networking protocols, DPDK/VPP, Go and Python API development, distributed systems operations, Linux kernel concepts, and containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, CSI, CNI). The role emphasizes cross-team collaboration, secure coding, and driving platform requirements and design trade-offs with attention to customer outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Solid understanding of Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and networking protocols
- Experience with DPDK and/or VPP
- Recent and proficient experience with Golang (Go) and Python and API development
- Strong experience in building and operating highly reliable distributed systems
- Experience implementing CI/CD for code beyond a local machine
- Proficiency in Linux concepts (PCI devices, kernel capabilities, QEMU virtualization)
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CSI, and CNI
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with product management and stakeholders
