Job Summary
Senior Staff Frontend Engineer to lead the modernization of Bonify's frontend platform with a primary focus on React Native mobile apps (iOS & Android) and supporting web surfaces (React). You will set technical direction, drive architecture modernization, performance, reliability, and scalability, mentor engineers, and collaborate with backend, product, and design to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences from Berlin-based offices. The role emphasizes end-to-end mindset, platform leverage, and high-quality user experiences across web and mobile.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent impact)
- Deep, hands-on experience with React in production environments
- Strong experience with React Native and mobile app development (iOS and Android)
- Solid understanding of frontend system design — beyond UI implementation
- Experience leading large-scale refactors or platform transformations in existing codebases
- Strong understanding of performance, rendering behavior, and optimization techniques on web and mobile
- Experience working with design systems and component libraries at scale
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD for web and mobile applications
- Experience with frontend observability, monitoring, and performance measurement
- Ability to think in terms of platform leverage: shared primitives, safer defaults, tooling, and long-term maintainability
- Strong collaboration skills — comfortable working across teams, closely with backend experts, product and stakeholders
- Ability to balance technical quality with delivery and business constraints
- Strong written and verbal communication — able to explain trade-offs and influence decisions across teams
