Job Summary
Senior Staff Data Engineer to lead and influence multiple Platform and Analytics teams at Faire. Define technology strategy, roadmaps, and architecture patterns for data ingestion, storage, compute, governance, and analytics; scale data pipelines and warehousing with emphasis on data integrity, security, performance, and cost. Provide mentorship and technical guidance on ETL/ELT, data movement, monitoring, and self-serve data tooling. Strong SQL and Python expertise, plus Snowflake, Airflow, Spark experience; experience with AWS and petabyte-scale data warehousing. Role involves partnering with Data Infrastructure, Analytics Platform, Data Science, Strategy & Analytics, and Finance to enable cross-functional data workloads and analytics automation. Hybrid work arrangement with in-office presence in SF, Waterloo, and Toronto (3 days/week in office with up to 4 weeks remote per year).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Snowflake, Airflow, Spark experience
- Data warehousing experience at Petabyte scale
- Experience designing, developing, and operating data streaming, batch, ETL/ELT, orchestration, storage, compute systems
- Experience building reliable, scalable data pipelines and analytics workflows
- Experience guiding technical and product teams on data processing trade-offs
- Experience operating in a growth-stage company with multiple data teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills
