Job Summary
Build and evolve microservices handling high-volume financial and transactional data, designing secure APIs that connect to third-party payment processors, banks, and fintech partners. Write readable, testable code for data-driven services powering account management, transaction history, and financial insights while collaborating cross-functionally with backend, mobile, and product teams. Adhere to agile processes through requirement documents and sprint retrospectives to consistently release high-quality, customer-focused features. Work on high-impact, production-grade systems prioritizing reliability, security, and performance within a hybrid schedule in Chicago, IL.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building backend services in production environments
- Experience in the financial technology, payments, or banking systems industry
- Familiarity with compliance, security, and data privacy standards (e.g., SOC 2, PCI DSS, GDPR)
- Experience designing transactional and event-driven systems for payments, reconciliation systems, or ledger-like applications
- Familiarity with microservice or Service-oriented Architecture
- Experience using gRPC, protobuf, or GraphQL
- Expert knowledge of SQL and experience designing data models for financial data integrity
- Experience with message queues or event streams (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
