Job Summary
Senior Staff Engineer to lead the technical direction of MyCoupang, Coupang's post-purchase customer experience platform. Own multi-market abstractions and drive system availability, disaster recovery readiness, and capacity planning across production fleets serving KR and TW. Define long-term architecture for a platform handling billions of requests weekly, while evolving features and ensuring security. Hands-on leadership in Java/Kotlin backend and TypeScript/ReactJS frontend, with a system spanning 100+ features monthly across Orders, Payments, Delivery, Cancel/Return/Exchange, WOW Membership, Travel, and Contact Center. Foster cross-functional collaboration to influence customer retention and satisfaction metrics, set engineering bar, and guide architectural strategy for one of Coupang's most customer-facing systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 12 years of software design and development experience in Java
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying scalable, high-availability systems
- Experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems
- Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex distributed systems
- Excellent collaboration skills across cross-functional teams (Product, CS, Logistics, Payment)
