Job Summary
Prepare vouchers for government grants including City of Chicago, State of Illinois, Cook County, CPS, and other contracts. Track governmental contract submissions and payments while reviewing bills before submission to funders for non-grant services. Support the month-end close, manage the full cycle of accounts receivable including collections and reconciliations, and assist with the accounts payable process. Meet weekly with the Supervisor to discuss workflow and receivables, and support program management tracking monthly budgets. Maintain ongoing schedules on the Balance Sheet and ensure contract expenses are properly accounted for. Work within a racial, gender, sexuality, and ability equity lens to build positive workplace relationships. Full-time, exempt; $68,500; Chicago, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience working in not-for-profit accounting
- Bachelor's degree in accountancy
- Organized
- Have the ability to work well across departments
- Experience working with government grants
- Knowledge of GAAP based accounting
- 3 - 5 years of accounting experience
- Consistently learning and working within the following frameworks: Anti-oppression, Positive Youth Development, Trauma-informed and Balanced and Restorative Justice
- Committed to working in a community-based, youth-centered organization, with flexibility, cultural responsiveness, and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
- The COVID vaccine is mandatory for all employees
