Job Summary
Senior Patient Access Specialist responsible for admitting duties for all patients, including accurate MRN assignment, medical necessity/compliance checks, collecting insurance information, processing orders, and providing excellent customer service. Role includes training and development of materials for the department, scheduling staff, on-call after-hours coverage, and conducting audits and reporting. Candidate should have 1–3 years of experience in a similar role, associate degree or equivalent experience, and strong knowledge of revenue cycle processes, insurance verification, and POS/billing workflows. The position emphasizes ensuring compliant patient access operations, accurate documentation, and support for a high-quality patient and client experience, with opportunities for tuition reimbursement and professional certification. It is based in Stafford, VA and is a full-time role with compensation between $18.65 and $19.90 per hour, depending on experience.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar Patient Access/revenue cycle role
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments, and denials
- Comprehensive knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification
- Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT codes
- Ability to develop training materials and programs for new hires; provide continuing education
- Ability to manage staff schedules and on-call responsibilities
