Job Summary
Senior Specialist, Global IT Network responsible for the design, operation, and security of enterprise and manufacturing network infrastructure across Alfasigma sites. Key duties include Cisco-based routing/switching, data-center networking, WAN/SD-WAN, MPLS, wireless network management, firewalling and IT/OT segmentation, network security controls, secure remote access, lifecycle management, incident response, disaster recovery planning, and maintaining validation documentation aligned with GxP/GMP requirements. Will work across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments, coordinating with vendors and system integrators and contributing to network modernization initiatives (SD-WAN, Zero Trust, OT network security, automation). Requirements emphasize hands-on Cisco networking experience, Meraki cloud networking, routing protocols, security technologies, virtualization (Hyper-V/ESXi), HCI platforms, Azure hybrid services, scripting basics, and a background in regulated pharmaceutical or medical contexts. Locations include Pomezia, Alanno, Milan, or Bologna, Italy. This role is described as senior-level with 5–8 years in similar environments and demands multi-site, cross-functional collaboration and strong problem-solving abilities.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years in similar network engineering roles
- Cisco CCNA (or equivalent foundational networking certification)
- Experience with Cisco networking (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR/ASR)
- Experience with Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking
- Experience with SD-WAN and WAN optimization
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
- Experience with firewalling and network security (Cisco ASA/Firepower, Fortinet or equivalent)
- Familiarity with IT/OT segregation and industrial networking principles
- Knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere ESXi
- Knowledge of hybrid-cloud services (Azure)
- Experience in regulated GMP environments
- Audits support experience (AIFA/FDA)
- Communication and stakeholder management
- Structured, quality-oriented approach
- Ability to work across multi-site environments
- 5–8 years in network engineering in structured infrastructures
- Industrial/mission-critical context experience
