Senior Specialist, EMS Applications

Job Summary
Maintain, tune, and optimize advanced EMS applications including State Estimation, Security/Contingency Analysis, and Network Topology to ensure accurate real-time system analysis. Lead EMS/SCADA databases to ensure accurate telemetry and visualization tools, while overseeing integrations and real-time data interfaces for redundancy and failover. Coordinate technical troubleshooting, regression testing, and feature enhancements with vendors following established change management policies. Execute network model updates, validate in staging environments, and develop validation routines, KPIs, and alarm libraries to monitor application health. Create comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures to support operational continuity. Participate in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to safe service recovery. Travel up to 30% within Puerto Rico for field visits and vendor support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
- 7 years of experience working with EMS/SCADA systems in a utility or functional role responsibilities
- Hands-on experience with EMS advanced applications (State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, topology processing)
- Experience with real time power system models, SCADA/telemetry acquisition, and system validation practices
- Experience developing or improving policies, SOPs, workflows or programs
- Proven experience leading projects or initiatives of moderate complexity and influencing cross-functional teams
- Recognized subject-matter expertise, serving as an advanced resource and consultant to internal and external stakeholders
- Valid Driver's License
- Up to 30% of travel within Puerto Rico for field visits, testing vendor support, or operational activities
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree (Preferred)
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
