Senior Specialist, Complex Transactions

Job Summary

Deliver best-in-class service to members and universities by acting as a team lead to reconcile membership pension data and reporting key measures to stakeholders. Provide accurate and timely reporting on general and specific provisions, while peer reviewing transaction cases and payment streams to ensure compliance with plan text and legally prescribed timelines. Monitor employer transactions for the collection, recording, and reconciliation of contributions, and assess feasibility of workarounds for system-generated member calculations. Serve as the primary contact for queries regarding member data, contribution data captures, and connecting with the Client Experience Team. This role supports the transactions and payroll team to ensure all benefit payments are paid accurately and on time via the trustee. You will remain current on pension benefit trends, practices, and procedures, and evaluate adjustments to align with legislation timelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed college diploma or university degree
  • 5+ years of strong data analytics experience in the pension or financial services industry
  • 3+ years of experience in a broad range of pension plans, including defined benefit, defined contribution and hybrid plans
  • Experience reading and interpreting pension plan texts and translating provisions to be used operationally
  • Strong ability to self-diagnose member data issues correctly
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • An ability to communicate complex information clearly and at a level appropriate for the member and employer
  • Professional, client-focused approach to colleagues and assignments
  • Ability to organize, set priorities and work independently
  • Good numeric skills to ensure accuracy in calculations of pension entitlements, payments and deductions
  • High emotional intelligence
