Senior Special Process Engineer – Aerospace

Job Summary
Control and support chemical processing activities while preparing laboratory procedures, data cards, and work instructions. Perform chemical analysis, maintain tank controls, and manage effluent testing for environmental compliance. Conduct internal quality audits, support corrective actions, and prepare for NADCAP accreditation and customer audits. Analyze metallographic samples for welding, brazing, coatings, and alpha case evaluation, then carry out hardness testing and produce engineering substantiation reports. Provide training to shop floor personnel and support COSHH assessments and EHS initiatives. Drive continuous improvement across special process and laboratory activities within an aerospace environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience within the aerospace industry
- Strong background in special processes, materials engineering, metallurgy, or chemical processing
- Experience working within a laboratory, quality, or manufacturing engineering environment
- Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting NADCAP and customer audits
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
- Ability to work effectively with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience
- This role may require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- AS9100 and NADCAP experience
- Understanding of aerospace coatings, welding, brazing, and metallurgical testing
- Lead Auditor training or quality auditing experience
