Job Summary
Manage daily food production for restaurant operations and banquet events while controlling food and labor costs. Oversee kitchen staff by hiring, training, developing, scheduling, and supervising cooks to ensure preparation, plating, and safety standards are maintained. Assist the Executive Chef in creating menu selections for special themes and events based on current trends. Monitor team performance through supervision, counseling, evaluations, and assigning work to deliver top-quality food. This full-time, year-round role at Black Drum at Embassy Suites Myrtle Beach requires flexible scheduling including holidays and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Experience overseeing kitchen staff
- Experience hiring, training, developing, scheduling, and participating in the activities of cooks and other kitchen staff
- Ability to create and implement menu selections for special themes/events
- Knowledge of current food trends and regional tastes
- Ability to partner with a General Manager
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations
- Knowledge of federal, state, local, and company health requirements
- Ability to monitor and develop team member performance
- Experience providing supervision
- Experience conducting counseling
- Experience assisting with evaluations
