Job Summary

Senior Solutions and Data Architect at Thrivent – lead data and solution architecture for Asset Management platforms and internally built apps. Shape modern data architecture, establish data product standards, ensure secure, governed data across research, portfolio management, trading, operations, and reporting. Define patterns for unstructured data, enable cloud and legacy modernization, provide hands-on leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with security, enterprise architecture, and business teams. Evaluate AI use cases, define reusable guardrails, and drive integration across vendor platforms with a strong emphasis on data governance, metadata, lineage, and regulatory traceability. On-site in Minneapolis, MN with heavy involvement in cloud-native deployments and end-to-end architecture patterns.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years in architecture and/or senior engineering roles
  • Deep experience in data architecture for complex domains
  • Financial Services experience with Asset Management / Capital Markets domain knowledge
  • Experience in complex engineering environments, turning abstract concepts into software plans
  • Strong background in data modeling (conceptual/logical/physical), integration patterns, metadata/lineage, and data governance operating models
  • Experience designing modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, lake house, dbt) and cloud-native deployment practices
  • Hands-on understanding of distributed data processing, orchestration, and observability concepts
  • Ability to communicate architecture clearly to both business and technology audiences
  • Proven leadership experience to train and partner with peers, stakeholders and teams
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in ambiguous environments
  • Preferred: investment platforms/front-office tech experience, data catalogs/governance platforms, exposure to AI/agentic architectures, production AI experience
  • Programming/scripting experience (Python, SQL; Java a plus)
